1Azariah son of Amaziah became king of Judah. This was in the twenty-seventh year of the rule of Jeroboam, king of Israel. 2Azariah was sixteen years old when he became king. He ruled in Jerusalem for fifty-two years. His mother's name was Jecoliah of Jerusalem. 3He did what was right in the eyes of Jehovah, as his father Amaziah had done. 4He did not take away the high places. The people still continued to make and burn offerings in the high places. 5Jehovah sent disease on the king and he became a leper. To the day of his death he lived separately in his private house. Jotham his son was over his house, judging the people of the land. 6Now the rest of the acts of Azariah, and all he did are recorded in the Book of the History of the Kings of Judah. 7Azariah slept with his fathers. He was buried with his fathers in the town of David. Jotham his son became king in his place. 8In the thirty-eighth year of Azariah, king of Judah, Zechariah, son of Jeroboam, was king over Israel for six months. 9He did evil in the eyes of Jehovah, as his father had done, not turning away from the sin which Jeroboam, the son of Nebat, did and made Israel do. 10Shallum, the son of Jabesh conspired against him. He attacked him in Ibleam and killed him. He ruled in Samaria for ten years. 18He did evil in the eyes of Jehovah. He did not keep himself from the sin of Jeroboam son of Nebat. He causes Israel to sin too. 19Pul king of Assyria came against the land. Menahem gave Pul a thousand talents of silver to let him keep the kingdom. 20Menahem extracted the money from men of wealth in Israel. Every man gave fifty silver shekels to give to the king of Assyria. Pekahiah his son became king in his place. 23Pekahiah son of Menahem became king over Israel in Samaria. He ruled two years. It was in the fiftieth year of Azariah king of Judah. 24He did evil in the eyes of Jehovah. He did not turn from the sin Jeroboam son of Nebat committed and caused Israel to commit. 25Pekah son of Remaliah, his captain, conspired against him. He attacked him in the king's great house in Samaria. Fifty men of Gilead were with him. He ruled twenty years. It was in the fifty-second year of Azariah king of Judah. 28He did evil in the eyes of Jehovah. He did not turn from the sin Jeroboam son of Nebat committed and caused Israel to commit. 29In the days of Pekah king of Israel Tiglathpileser king of Assyria captured Ijon and Abelbethmaacah and Janoah and Kedesh and Hazor and Gilead and Galilee and all the land of Naphtali. He took the people captive to Assyria. 30Hoshea son of Elah conspired against Pekah son of Remaliah. He attacked him and killed him. He became king in his place. It was in the twentieth year of Jotham son of Uzziah king of Judah. 31The rest of the acts of Pekah are recorded in the Book of the History of the Kings of Israel. 32Jotham son of Uzziah became king of Judah. It was in the second year of Pekah son of Remaliah king of Israel. 33He was twenty-five years old when he became king. He ruled sixteen years in Jerusalem. His mother's name was Jerusha daughter of Zadok. 34Jotham did what was right in the eyes of Jehovah, as his father Uzziah had done. 35But he did not take away the high places. The people still sacrificed and burned incense on the high places. He was the builder of the higher gate of the Temple of Jehovah. 36The rest of the acts of Jotham are recorded in the Book of the History of the Kings of Judah. 37At that time Jehovah first sent Rezin, king of Aram, and Pekah, son of Remaliah, against Judah. 38Jotham died and was buried in the royal tombs in David's City. His son Ahaz succeeded him as king.
