1I solemnly charge you in the sight presence of God, and of Christ Jesus, who will judge the living and the dead, and by his appearing and his kingdom: 2preach the word; be urgent in season and out of season; reprove, rebuke, exhort, with all long-suffering and teaching. 3For the time will come when they will not endure the sound doctrine. Having their ears tickled, they will accumulate teachers who follow after their own lusts. 4They will turn their ears away from the truth, and turn aside to myths fiction. 5Be sober in all things, suffer hardship, do the work of an evangelist preacher of the good news, and fulfill your ministry. 6I am already being offered poured out as an offering, and the time of my departure has come. 7I have fought the good fight! I have finished the course! I have kept the faith! 8The crown of righteousness is laid up for me. The Lord, the righteous judge, will give it to me at that day; and not to me only, but also to all those who have loved his appearing manifestation. 9Do your best to come to me shortly. 10For Demas forsook me, having loved this present world, and went to Thessalonica. Crescens went to Galatia, Titus to Dalmatia. 11Only Luke is with me. Take Mark with you, for he is useful to me for ministering. 12I sent Tychicus to Ephesus. 13When you come, bring the books, parchments, and the cloak that I left at Troas with Carpus. 14Alexander the coppersmith did me much evil: God will render to him according to his works. 15You should also beware of him, for he intensely opposed our words. 16At first no one defended me. They all abandoned me. May it not be counted against them. 17But the Lord stood by me, and strengthened me; that through me the message might be fully proclaimed, and that all the people of the nations might hear. I was delivered out of the mouth of the lion Satan the Devilgreat danger (1 Peter 5:8) (Psalm 22:21) (1 Thessalonians 2:18). 18The Lord will deliver me from every evil work. He will save me to his heavenly kingdom. To him is the glory forever and ever. Amen. 19Greet Prisca and Aquila and the house of Onesiphorus. 20Erastus remained at Corinth, but I left Trophimus at Miletus sick. 21Do your utmost to come before winter. Eubulus greets you, and Pudens and Linus and Claudia and all the brothers. 22The Lord be with your spirit mental dispositionattitude. Grace be with you.
