1My son, do not forget my law. Let your heart obey my commandments. 2My precepts will give you a long, peaceful, and prosperous life. 3Do not let kindness and truth leave you. Bind them around your neck. Write them on the tablet of your heart. 4You will find kindness and understanding in the sight of God and man. 5Trust in Jehovah with all your heart. Do not lean on your own understanding. 6In all your ways acknowledge recognize Him and He will make your paths straight. 7Do not think you are wise enough. Respect Jehovah and turn away from evil. 8This will make you healthy, and you will feel strong. 9Honor Jehovah with your wealth and give him the best of all you have. 10Your barns will be filled with plenty. Your vats will overflow with new wine. 11My son, do not despise Jehovah’s discipline or be weary of his correction. 12For whom Jehovah loves He reproves, just like a father corrects the son he loves dearly. (Hebrews 12:6) 13How blessed is the man who finds wisdom. Happy is the man who gains understanding. 14The profit from wisdom is better than the profit from silver. Her gain is better than fine gold. 15She wisdom is more precious than pearls. Nothing you desire compares with wisdom. 16Long life is in her right hand. In her left hand are riches and honor. 17Her ways are pleasant ways. All her paths are peace. 18She wisdom is a tree of life to those who hold her. Happy are all who keep her. 19In wisdom Jehovah founded the earth. In understanding he established the heavens. 20By his knowledge the depths are broken up and the clouds drop down the dew. 21My son, do not let them depart from your eyes. Keep sound wisdom and discretion! 22They will mean life to you and adornment to your neck. 23You will walk in your way safely. Your foot will not stumble. 24When you lie down you will not be afraid. Yes, you will lie down and your sleep will be sweet. 25Do not be afraid of sudden fear or trouble from the wicked when it comes. 26Jehovah will be your confidence. He will keep your foot from stumbling. 27Do not withhold good from those to whom it is due when it is in the power of your hand to do it. 28If you can help them now, never tell your neighbors: »Wait until tomorrow.« 29Do not plan anything that will hurt your neighbors. They live beside you, trusting you. 30Argue with no one if they have never done you any harm. 31Do not be jealous of violent people or decide to act as they do. 32Jehovah hates people who do evil. He takes righteous people into his confidence. 33Jehovah puts a curse on the homes of the wicked, but blesses the homes of the just. 34He has no use for conceited people. He shows loving kindness to the humble. 35Wise people will inherit glory. But disgrace is the legacy of stupid foolish people.
