1Preserve and protect me, O God, because I take refuge in you. 2I said to Jehovah: »You are Jehovah my God. Without you, I have nothing good. 3»The holy ones on earth are the noble ones who fill me with joy.« 4Those who quickly pursue other gods multiply their sorrows. I will not pour out their sacrificial offerings of blood or use my lips to speak their names. 5Jehovah is the portion of my inheritance and my cup. You determine my position in life. 6Your boundary lines mark out pleasant places for me. Indeed, my inheritance is beautiful to me. 7I will praise Jehovah for he advises me. My conscience inner self instructs me at night. 8I always keep Jehovah in front of me. When he is at my right hand assisting me, I cannot be moved. 9That is why my heart is glad and I rejoice. My body rests securely. 10You do not abandon me to the grave or allow your holy one to decay. 11You make the path of life known to me. Complete joy is in your presence. It is pleasant to be at your right hand forever.
