1Answer me when I call, O God of my righteousness! You have relieved me in my trouble. Have mercy on me and hear my prayer. 2O sons of men, how long will my glorious honor be turned into shame? How long will you love empty, worthless things and search for the lie? 3But know that Jehovah has chosen and distinguished the godly man for himself. Jehovah will hear when I call to him. 4Tremble, stand in awe and do not sin! Meditate in your heart upon your bed, and keep silent. 5Offer the sacrifices of righteousness and trust in Jehovah. 6Many are saying: »Who will show us good?« Lift up the light of your countenance facepresence upon us, O Jehovah! 7You will put gladness joy in my heart. It will be more than when their grain and new wine abound. 8In peace I will both lie down and sleep. For you alone, O Jehovah, make my dwelling safe and secure.
