1Why do the nations rage, And the peoples meditate a vain thing? 2The kings of the earth set themselves, And the rulers take counsel together, Against Yahweh, and against his anointed, [saying], 3Let us break apart their bonds, And cast away from us their cords. 4He who sits in the heavens will laugh: The Lord will have them in derision. 5Then he will speak to them in his wrath, And in his intense displeasure, he will vex them: 6Yet I have set my king On Zion my holy hill. 7I will tell of the decree: Yahweh said to me, You are my son; This day I have begotten you. 8Ask of me, and I will give [you] the nations for your inheritance; And for your possession, the uttermost parts of the earth. 9You will shepherd them with a rod of iron; Like a potter's vessel, you will dash them in pieces. 10Now therefore you{+} kings, be wise; Be instructed, you{+} judges of the earth. 11Serve Yahweh with fear, And rejoice with trembling. 12Embrace purity, or else he will be angry, and you{+} will perish in the way, For his wrath will soon be kindled. Blessed are all those who take refuge in him.
