1He who dwells in the secret place of the Most High Will reside under the shadow of the Almighty. 2I will say of Yahweh, He is my refuge and my fortress; My God, in whom I trust. 3For he will deliver you from the snare of the fowler, And from the word of calamity. 4He will cover you with his pinions, And under his wings you will take refuge: His truth is a shield and a buckler. 5You will not be afraid for the terror by night, Nor for the arrow that flies by day; 6For the pestilence that walks in darkness, Nor for the destruction that wastes at noonday. 7A thousand will fall at your side, And ten thousand at your right hand; [But] it will not come near you. 8Only with your eyes you will look, And see the reward of the wicked. 9For you, O Yahweh, are my refuge! You have made the Most High your habitation; 10No evil will befall you, Neither will any plague come near your tent. 11For he will give his angels charge over you, To keep you in all your ways. 12They will bear you up in their hands, Or else you would dash your foot against a stone. 13You will tread on the lion and cobra: The young lion and the serpent you will trample under foot. 14Because he has set his love on me, therefore I will deliver him: I will set him on high, because he has known my name. 15He will call on me, and I will answer him; I will be with him in trouble: I will deliver him, and honor him. 16With long life I will satisfy him, And show him my salvation.
