1And in Iconium they went together into the synagogue of the Jews, and so spake that a great multitude both of the Jews and Greeks believed. 2But the unbelieving Jews stirred up the Gentiles, and made their minds evil-affected against the brethren. 3Yet they abode a long time speaking boldly in the Lord, who bare witness to the word of his grace, and granted signs and wonders to be done by their hands. 4But the multitude of the city was divided; and part held with the Jews, and part with the apostles. 5And when there was an assault both of the Gentiles and Jews with their rulers, to use them despitefully, and to stone them, Being aware of it, 6they fled to Lystra and Derbe, cities of Lycaonia, 7And preached the gospel there. 8And there sat a certain man at Lystra, impotent in his feet, having been a cripple from his mother's womb, who had never walked. 9This man heard Paul speaking; who fixing his eyes upon him, and perceiving that he had faith to be healed, 10Said with a loud voice, Stand upright on thy feet. 11And he leaped and walked. But the multitude, seeing what Paul had done, lifted up their voice, saying, in the Lycaonian language, The gods are come down to us, in the likeness of men. 12And they called Barnabas Jupiter, and Paul Mercurius, because he was the chief speaker. 13Then the priest of Jupiter, which was before their city, brought bulls and garlands to the gates, and with the multitude, would have sacrificed. 14But when the apostles Barnabas and Paul heard it, they rent their clothes and sprang in among the people, crying out and saying, Sirs, why do ye these things? 15We also are men of like passions with you, and preach to you, to turn from these vanities unto the living God, who made heaven and earth, the sea, and all things that are therein: Who, in times past, suffered all nations to walk in their own ways: 16Yet he left not himself without witness, 17in that he did good, giving rain from heaven and fruitful seasons, filling their hearts with food and gladness. 18And with these sayings scarce restrained they the multitude from sacrificing to them. 19But there came thither Jews from Antioch and Iconium, who persuaded the multitude, and having stoned Paul, dragged him out of the city, supposing he had been dead. 20But as the disciples stood round about him, he rose and went into the city; and the next day, he departed with Barnabas to Derbe. 21And having preached the gospel to that city, and made many disciples, they returned to Lystra, and Iconium, and Antioch, 22Confirming the souls of the disciples, and exhorting them to continue in the faith; and that we must through many tribulations enter into the kingdom of God. 23And when they had ordained them presbyters in every church, and had prayed with fasting, they commended them to the Lord, on whom they had believed. 24And having passed through Pisidia, 25they came to Pamphylia, And having preached the word in Perga, 26they went down to Attalia, And thence sailed back to Antioch, from whence they had been recommended to the grace of God, for the work which they had fulfilled. 27And being come and having gathered the church together, they related all that God had done with them, and that he had opened the door of faith to the Gentiles. 28And they abode there a long time with the disciples.
